After a season which saw Manchester narrowly miss out on Champions League qualification, seldom used striker Roque Santa Cruz is convinced the club will push on and aim even higher next season. With a few big name signings expected during the summer, the Paraguayan international claims the mega-rich side will have what it takes to challenge for the Premier League title.
“I think that the pressure is going to grow for us because of the kind of money that the owner is spending on the club, the former Blackburn Rovers star said on the leagues official website. “We expect next year to not only do well, but also to see if we can fight for the title.”
Santa Cruz only played in 17 matches for Man City last season, as injuries kept him on the sidelines for long periods of time.
