Barcelona are stepping up their efforts to conclude the transfer of Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal. President Joan Laporta is keen to ensure Fabregas is a Barcelona player before 9th June, and noises from the Camp Nou suggest the Barca board are confident of achieving that feat.
Catalan daily Sport suggests the two clubs are just €10M apart in their valuation of the Spanish midfielder: Barcelona have put €50M on the table, while Arsenal continue to hold out for €60M.
Laporta and his board, who will make way for new blood at the Camp Nou by the summer, are keen to leave the incoming president with David Villa (already completed) and Cesc Fabregas signed on the dotted line. Therefore the Barcelona squad will be somewhat settled.
Arsenal on the other hand face a frantic summer of trying to replace Fabregas, a vital cog in the workings of Arsene Wenger's machine.
