Valencia, searching for another striker following the sale of David Villa to Barcelona, have registered an interest in Holland forward Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Dutchman, currently with Germany side Hamburg, only left Spain in the January transfer window, after it became clear he was surplus to requirements at Real Madrid.
The former Real Madrid man, now 34 years old, headed to the Bundesliga in pursuit of first team football to allow him to book a place in Holland's World Cup squad. However, Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk has decided to leave Van Nistelrooy at home, and another year or two in La Liga could be the perfect way to round off a sensational career.
Van Nistelrooy remains under contract with Hamburg until 2011, so any move to Valencia is far from clear cut.
