The hunt for a successor to the now departed Jose Mourinho at Internazionale has begun in earnest. Top of the list for president Massimo Moratti is two names, both currently coaching in England: Fabio Capello and Rafael Benitez.

The Inter supremo is known to favour Fabio Capello, commenting recently to Sky 24: "It would please me if he [Capello] is released after the World Cup."

However, England are keen to hold onto their Italian coach and will do all in their power to persuade the ex-AC Milan boss to remain at Soho Square. Capello's contract contains a break clause which would allow for his departure after the World Cup and it is this which has given Moratti hope. England though, are expected to meet Capello today to thrash out the elimination of that clause.

Rafael Benitez remains another option for Inter and is the favoured choice of the club's Argentine contingent (Javier Zanetti, Walter Samuel, Esteban Cambiasso, Diego Milito) whose voice carries much weight.

Moratti rates Benitez too, stating: "I have always thought that Benitez is a good coach, but he is linked with Liverpool."
