Although Manchester City are heavily linked with signing Edin Dzeko from Wolfsburg, manager Roberto Mancini has assured striker Emmanuel Adebayor that his place in the squad is safe. The Togolese international scored only 14 goals last season, a far cry from his 30-goal haul for Arsenal just two campaigns before.

Despite his dip in form, the former Inter Milan boss insists the 25-year-old is still “a major player” for Man City and that he will be “one of the key players for next season”. Mancini has also claimed that although his club have been linked with plenty of players, most of those reported in the papers are not even in their sights.

Although the Italian manager is adamant to mask his plans for the summer transfer window, it seems Man City are on the lookout for a striker, and a central midfielder to boost their attacking options for next season.
