Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed their first signing of the summer transfer window, with the capture of Anderlecht defender Jelle Van Damme on a three-year deal with an option for a one year extension. The 26-year-old Belgium international, who played for Southampton in the 2004/05, was purchased for an undisclosed fee.
“Jelle is a player we’ve been watching for a long time and I’m delighted we’ve managed to sign him," said McCarthy on the league’s official website. "He is a versatile defender who can play in several different positions and also boasts Champions League experience with Anderlecht and 22 international caps with Belgium.”
Van Damme joins a Wolves side that are attempting to remain in the Premier League for a third consecutive season, after only just beating the drop in the last campaign.
