According to reports on France Football, Fabio Cannavaro has agreed to sign a two-year deal with Dubai club Al-Ahli. The 36-year-old was speculated to be on the verge of retirement after failing to extend his contract with Juventus, but has chosen to extend his playing career elsewhere.
After a disappointing return to the Turin club after his three-year stint at Real Madrid, Cannavaro was initially pushing for a return to his boyhood club Napoli, but a deal could not be agreed upon.
Al-Ahli chairman Abdullah al-Nabouda said on the club’s official website, “For us, this is one of the most important deals we have made. Cannavaro is a player known for wearing the jerseys of famous clubs as Real Madrid and Juventus.”
