Jerome Boateng is expected to become Manchester City’s first signing of the summer transfer window, after the player announced on German paper Sport Bild that he had been signed by the Premier League club.
The young defender is understood to have been acquired from Hamburg, in a deal that was worth €12.5M. Boateng will be expected to join up with the Citizens, after his World Cup duties with Germany.
Man City were depleted in defence last season when Joleon Lescott got injured, and have wisely reinforced the area with the first chance they got. The youngster is capable of playing both as a centre-back and a full-back, a versatility that will be crucial in bringing stability to Roberto Mancini’s backline.
