Reports on Spanish paper AS claim Manchester City are set to meet Valencia officials, as they step up their efforts to try to sign talented winger David Silva. The mega-rich side have been placed on high alert after it was revealed that Real Madrid are also interested in signing the Spanish international.

Valencia have confirmed that they will be holding talks with the Premier League side, the first club to come into formal talks with Los Che regarding the transfer of the left-winger. The La Liga side are in massive debt, and are likely to be forced to sell Silva, and Juan Manuel Mata before the summer window closes.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a spectacular season for Valencia last season, scoring 10 goals and making 12 assists in 36 matches.
