AS Roma have confirmed that 33-year-old Marco Cassetti has signed a one-year extension to his contract, keeping him with the club until at least 2011. The right-back featured in 29 league appearances last season, in a campaign that saw his side just fall short against Inter Milan in the Serie A and the Italian Cup.

“I am looking forward to meeting up with my team-mates again after my holidays," said Cassetti on UEFA’s official website. "I’m sure we can continue to get great results next season starting with the Italian Super Cup against Inter in August."

Roma have been busy in the summer transfer window, recently snapping up Brazilian Fábio Simplício from Palermo, shortly after renewing keeper Julio Sergio’s contract.
