Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has admitted that he is disappointed at the departure of Rafael Benitez from the club, but insists he is still fully committed to the Reds’ cause. The Spanish international was acquired by the outgoing manager back in 2005 from Villarreal, changing the talented custodian from an exciting prospect to a world-class keeper.

Something like this is always sad," Reina said on the club’s official website. “Rafa is the one who has always trusted me. I can only give my utmost gratitude for all that he’s done for me,” he admitted. “I wish him the very best. But this changes nothing. I still have a six-year contract with Liverpool."

Reina’s pledge of loyalty will be music to the ears of the club’s faithful, as the Spanish international has been a real rock for the Reds since his transfer five seasons ago.
