According to reports on Corriere dello Sport, Juventus are set to make their first signing of the summer transfer window by acquiring Udinese midfielder Simone Pepe for €12M, on a four-year deal. It is believed the signing will be made official later in the day.
The 26-year-old former AS Roma player is part of Italy manager Marcelo Lippi’s 23-man squad for the coming World Cup, proof that Pepe, although not yet a household name, is a player with exceptional talent.
Despite playing in midfield, Pepe is a solid contributor in terms of goals for Udinese. Upon his return from a season-long loan from Cagliari, the 26-year-old blossomed into a more consistent and mature player. He has averaged almost six goals in his last three seasons in the Serie A.
