Inter are preparing to step up their move for former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez after president Massimo Moratti decided the Spanish tactician is the right choice to lead the club into the post Jose Mourinho era. A move for Benitez has been made all the easier following Liverpool’s parting of ways with the Spaniard, meaning no compensation will need to be paid by Inter as was once expected.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter director Marco Branca will travel to Spain for an interim meeting today. Then, next Monday or Tuesday, talks will be held in Italy with president Moratti himself.
Inter are keen to resolve their management situation as quickly as possible and Benitez is rated highly within the corridors of power at the San Siro. The Italians also want to have their new coach’s input into their moves in the summer transfer market.
