Real Madrid have put an end to any speculation linking young striker Gonzalo Higuain to other clubs, after confirming in a statement on the club’s official website: “Real Madrid C. F. and Gonzalo Higuain have reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract with the Club to June 2016.”

The Argentinean sensation’s future was slightly uncertain with the arrival of Jose Mourinho as manager, but the Portuguese tactician is understood to be an admirer of the 22-year-old. With Cristiano Ronaldo, the duo created the most prolific strike partnership in La Liga with a combined total of 53 goals.

Higuain, a former River Plate standout, has really blossomed in the last two seasons, showing he is more than capable of handling the pressure that comes with playing at Real Madrid. 312667-73682
