In an interview with television channel Antena 3, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez discussed the club’s plans for the ongoing summer transfer window. Although linked with a host of players, Los Blancos have yet to capture any of their targets so far.
Perez also talked about the club’s new target, Bordeaux’s highly rated midfielder Yoann Gourcuff. The Real head said, “Some say he is the new Zidane. He is a player that we follow as do many others. We believe he will be among the best players of the future.”
With Olympique Lyon yesterday signalling their intent to drop out of the race for the French international due to financial constraints, Manchester City has since been tipped as the favourites to sign the talented midfielder. Gourcuff is understood to be interested in competing in the Champions League however, and should Real step up their efforts, the young star could favour a move to the Santiago Bernabeu rather than Eastlands.
