While Chelsea may have parted company with Michael Ballack and Joe Cole it seems they have no intention of doing the same with Nicolas Anelka. The French striker, whose present contract at Stamford Bridge has just one year left to run, will soon ink a new deal, putting to bed speculation that he too could leave.
According to French sports paper L’Equipe, Anelka was recommended for a new deal by Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti, who believes the striker remains crucial to his plans. The former Arsenal man will sign a deal extending his current deal by two years and running out in 2013.
How much Anelka will bag in wages remains unclear, with his close friend Didier Drogba taking home £108,000 per week Anelka could be looking for something similar.
