France coach Raymond Domenech has said that he is disappointed to have only drawn against Uruguay in their World Cup Group A opener last night. The French, despite facing ten men for the last 10 minutes could not find a way through and the game ended 0-0, leaving every team in the group on one point, following South Africa’s earlier 1-1 draw with Mexico.

"The goal was to win, of course"
, said Domenech. "Even knowing the outcome of the other match, three points would have been better."

Now France’s next match against Mexico has become crucial to Les Bleus’ future and Domenech recognises as much, whilst also thinking it is, despite being level on points, advantage to Mexico and South Africa.

"It is as if we had a day for nothing. We will play two matches, but almost everyone else has scored goals. So it is advantage to the first two teams."
