Former Cameroon coach and African football loyalist Claude Le Roy has spoken of his belief that the continent’s sides can enjoy a good World Cup. Le Roy also pinpointed Cameroon as the ‘home’ nation with the best chance.

Asked which African side can go furthest, Le Roy told France Football: "Cameroon".

"I fully support six African teams at the World Cup", said the current Oman coach, "but hopefully Cameroon will go as far as possible. They have been very consistent in their preparation and are in a solid group."

Le Roy also identified Asamoah Gyan as the most dangerous African frontman, stating his belief that the Ghana striker "can hurt every defence at this World Cup."
