After being replaced at half time in the match against Paraguay, goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has assured Italy supporters that he will be back between the sticks for the next match. It has been revealed that the highly rated shot stopper did not suffer a serious injury, but was merely suffering from a sciatic nerve ailment.

I thought I had suffered a tear, but ultimately it is just a pain in the sciatic nerve," explained the Italian goalkeeper on Spanish paper AS. With the injury not as severe as first thought, Buffon is expected to be fit and ready to reclaim his place within two days.

Federico Marchetti replaced the Juventus keeper during half time, in a match that Italy drew 1-1 against Paraguay.
