Didier Drogba looks set to face Portugal today, after reports were released that the Chelsea striker has been allowed to wear a protective case around his recovering arm. The Ivorian looked in danger of missing the key match, being forced into surgery before flying out to South Africa after breaking his arm in a friendly against Japan.

The striker has recovered faster than anticipated however, and has been cleared to feature against Cristiano Ronaldo and company after the match referee and Portuguese delegation cleared the use of a protective case.

"Drogba’s plan to use protective plaster was examined by the delegation of Portugal in the coordination meeting yesterday and did not object," said FIFA communications director Nicolas Maingot.
