According to reports from Catalan daily Sport, Juventus are interested in reinforcing their defence, and have their eye on rarely used Barcelona player Rafael Marquez. The versatile Mexican, who is capable of playing across the back four and even in midfield, is just what chairman Giuseppe Marotta is looking for.
The 31-year-old still has two years left on his contract with Barca, but has seen his role in the club getting smaller as the seasons progress. Although extremely reliable when called upon, the defender made a mere 23 appearances in all competitions last year, signs that he has fallen far down the pecking order.
Juventus are looking to capitalise on the experienced player’s deteriorating situation at Barca, and will be trying to prise the player away from the Catalan club later in the summer.
