Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has expressed his hopes that the Latics keep hold of key player Charles N’Zogbia and Hugo Rodallega in the summer transfer window. There has been plenty of speculation of the two standouts being tracked by bigger clubs, but the shot-stopper is keen to have the duo remain in the squad next season.
"It’s vital we keep hold of those players, but we have to make sure they want to stay at the club by doing well on the field," Kirkland said on premierleague.com. "And if they want to stay, the club has got to do all it can to keep hold of them. It’s a different story if the players want to go, but that’s for the club to sort out.”
Manager Roberto Martinez is confident the pair will stay at the DW Stadium, previously stating that only an "obscene amount of money" could possibly tempt the club into selling the duo.
