According to reports from French paper Le Parisien, former Bordeaux manager Laurent Blanc turned down a chance to replace Jose Mourinho as Inter Milan manager, choosing instead to honour is word with the French Football Federation to become the next France coach.
The highly rated Frenchman was reportedly approached to take the reins at the San Siro back in May, but his refusal to turn back on his promise to replace Raymond Domenech after the World Cup in South Africa, led to Rafael Benitez’s subsequent appointment.
With the current chaos surrounding the France camp however, it begs the question whether Blanc has regretted his decision to turn down last season’s treble winners. The Frenchman will certainly have plenty to do once his tenure as France coach begins, as he takes over a Les Bleus side in disarray and with morale at an all-time low.
