Robinho’s Manchester City future hangs in the balance, according to Catalan daily Sport, after manager Roberto Mancini revealed that a swift decision regarding the disgruntled star’s future was necessary within the next week or so. The former Real Madrid star is currently out on World Cup duty with Brazil, and is enjoying an impressive campaign so far.

Having finished the second half of the season on loan to Santos, where he rediscovered his form, Robinho is believed to be intent on remaining with the Brazilian side next season. The attacker’s boyhood club is unlikely to be able to afford his hefty price tag however, making it difficult for an agreement to be reached.

Should Robinho opt not to play in Eastlands next season, Mancini is understood to be interested in using him as a bargaining tool to lure transfer targets, such as Aston Villa’s James Milner or Barcelona’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Yaya Toure.
