According to Catalan daily Sport, Barcelona are on the verge of snapping up Valencia winger Juan Mata in a five-year deal worth €20M. The talented 22-year-old has enjoyed three impressive seasons with Los Che, but with the financial troubles of the club, his departure has been inevitable.
Mata is currently on duty with Spain in the World Cup in South Africa, a tribute to his ability and quality. Incoming president Sandro Rosell has earmarked the player as a talent that should be playing for Barca, with coach Pep Guardiola reportedly happy with the acquisition.
The youngster’s looming transfer will see him follow in the footsteps of former team-mate David Villa, who made the switch to the La Liga champions earlier in the summer transfer window.
