Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has hailed the country’s 2-1 extra time victory over the United States in their last 16 World Cup clash yesterday. The win ensures that an African country remains involved in the World Cup and now Ghana can look forward to a meeting with Uruguay in the quarter-final on Friday.

"I’m thilled", said Rajevac. "This victory is huge. Ghana are amongst the top eight teams in the world."

Ghana will have to cope without the services of Andre Ayew and Jonathan Mensah against Uruguay, with both missing out due to suspension. An injury cloud too hangs over Kevin Prince Boateng, certainly one of the Black Stars’ top performers so far in South Africa.

"It’s a major problem" bemoaned Rajevac. "The yellow cards and the injuries. We’ll see how the players who are ready will react."
