Brazil boss Dunga has denied that Chile represent an easier opponent in the last 16, dismissing claims too that because the Selecao have won their last five matches against the South Americans a psychological advantage will lie with them, and also going on to claim Chile have improved since they last met.

"Chile have progressed", said Dunga. "The team has acquired a mental strength with this coach [Marcelo Bielsa] . We must respect all teams that play against Brazil, we must respect other footballing nations."

Dunga has come in for plenty of stick from the Brazilian press of late for fielding a team which has been judged to play dull football. Having decided to leave Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato at home, this Brazil side is thought to lack a creative genius, especially in the wake of Kaka’s poor form. With Chile expected to attack, Brazil will surely have to play like the Brazil of old to pass this test.
