English club Everton appear to have won the race to sign Strasbourg striker Magaye Gueye. The Premier League side had made an offer for the 19-year-old, but then saw themselves outbid by Ligue 1 giants Lyon. However, Everton have improved their offer to €1.4M, matching that on the table from Lyon.

Given both bids are acceptable to Strasbourg, Gueye prefers to head to the Premier League to try his luck with Everton. Personal terms are not a problem and, according to France Football, Gueye will ink a deal with Everton on Thursday before flying to join his new team-mates in Australia where they are enjoying a pre-season tour.

The striker is a decent enough prospect and has progressed through France’s Under-16, 19, 20 and 21 teams at international level.
