Roma may be forced to concede defeat in their bid to sign Benfica’s Brazilian centre back Luisao. The Serie A side had been keen on the 29-year-old, believing him to be a perfect addition ahead of the new season. However, such a move now looks impossible.
According to Calcio Mercato, Benfica’s president has gone on record as stating that he considers Luisao as "untransferable" and the Italian side have taken this to mean the defender is now out of their price range.
While Roma remain confident that a bid money bid could land the Brazil defender, the Italians had budgeted to pay no more than €6M for Luisao and would be unwilling to enter into the realms of crazy money.
