The future of highly rated Nice striker Loic Remy is still very much up in the air. While Bordeaux would like to sign the talent, they cannot afford him according to their president Jean-Louis Triaud. A club who perhaps can pay the fee demanded by Nice is West Ham United. Yet their payment terms, a €13.5M fee payable over five years, were not acceptable to Nice.
Now another party could barge between Bordeaux and West Ham. According to France Football, Lyon have been following Remy’s situation closely and could yet pounce. And while Lyon do not need attacking reinforcements, the club have not forgiven themselves for allowing Remy to leave in 2008.
A further twist though could come in the shape of Yoann Gourcuff. If Lyon succeed in buying the France star from Bordeaux, then the 2008/09 Ligue 1 champions would have the funds to complete their move for Remy, who is seen as the perfect replacement for the departed Marouane Chamkah.
