Bayern Munich’s World Cup star Bastian Schweinsteiger has talked up speculation that he could well be set to quit the Allianz Arena and head abroad. The midfield dynamo had emerged as a very real target for Real Madrid, but his German side let it be known that they would not entertain offers for Schweinsteiger.

The 25-year-old told Bild that he was aware of interest from a number of foreign teams in his services, while also commenting that playing in a foreign league was an option at some point.

"I want to respect the contract I have with the club [Bayern Munich]. But the idea of joining a championship abroad excites me."

Should Schweinsteiger push for a move then there will no doubt be a queue of interested parties at the door of the Allianz Arena.
