Jose Mourinho has told the Real Madrid fans that he wants to sign Stuttgart midfielder Sami Khedira because he is adopting a policy of snapping up youngsters who still have plenty of room for improvement. Khedira is high on the Real Madrid wanted list and it was even reported that his transfer was close, but there remains work to do.

Khedira is expected to cost €10M, but Chelsea and Bayern Munich are also reported to be watching developments closely. Nevertheless, Khedira is important to Mourinho just as much for what he represents as what he can do straight away.

"We want to sign young players with high potential", Mourinho told Portuguese news agency Lusa. "With this in mind we bought Angel di Maria, however he was expensive. Now we want Khedira. The room for improvement is huge."
