Emiliano Insua is on the verge of a move to Fiorentina as Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson gave his blessing to the move. The Argentina left back was brought in by previous coach Rafael Benitez and enjoyed much playing time last season at Anfield. Hodgson has decided he can move on though.

"A deal has been struck with Fiorentina", said Hodgson to the club’s official site. "We wish him well for the rest of his career and thank him for his time spent at Liverpool. I am expecting him to join Fiorentina next week."

The deal, which should bring Liverpool €5M, will presumably go into Hodgson’s transfer kitty along with the £6M received for Yossi Benayoun this summer. With Liverpool also having bid farewell to Fabio Aurelio, Hodgson is desperately short at left back.
