Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill has said England international James Milner can leave the club after he expressed his wish to leave. The Midlands side turned down a bid from Manchester City for their midfielder in May, believed to be £20M. City are expected to be Milner’s destination.
O’Neill will be looking for a figure of around £30M for the former Leeds United man, although it is possible he could ask City to include one of their players in the deal. With such a wealth of midfield talent currently at Eastlands, O’Neill would have little problem identifying someone to strengthen his squad.
The Aston Villa boss is hopeful Milner’s future will be resolved soon, especially as the player is soon due to return from an extended holiday because of his participation in the World Cup.
