Rumours around French international Hatem Ben Arfa’s future continue to circulate as it emerged last night that Werder Bremen, who were widely reported as yet another possible suitor, also dismissed any links.
According to French newpaper La Provence, Olympique Marseille received an official request from Premier League side Newcastle last week, who were keen to set up a meeting to discuss the French champions’ winger’s future.
However it has now come to light that German Bundesliga side Bremen might compete with the Magpies although General Manager Klaus Allofs was quick to deny such claims, stating last night after a friendly against Freiburg that "there is nothing true about it".
The Green-Whites, as they are known in the Bundesliga, are likely to keep an eye on the 23-year-old talent though as they will need to strengthen their midfield with Germany star Mesut Ozil expected to leave Werder this summer.
