Manchester United went down to Kansas City Wizards last night as the MLS side put the Premier League team to the sword 2-1. Sir Alex Ferguson once again trusted in youth, but also included some experience in the form of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Dimitar Berbatov.

The friendly was watched by an impressive 52,000 at the Arrowhead Stadium and the home side were soon ahead through Davy Arnaud. Dimitar Berbatov levelled proceedings from the penalty spot, an incident which also saw defender Jimmy Conrad sent off for Kansas. Kei Kamara headed home the winner, following a corner for Kansas, but the goal left many people wondering whether the ball had truly crossed the line, and TV replays could not settle the matter beyond doubt.

A positive for United will surely have been the return to action for Portuguese winger Nani, who had been suffering from a broken collarbone which kept him out of the World Cup.
