Benfica have signed highly rated young striker Rodrigo from Real Madrid Castilla. The Bernebau hierarchy decided to bank a healthy €6M for the forward who, despite being Brazilian-born, has turned out regularly for the Spanish Under-19 team.
Rodrigo undoubtedly impressed Benfica scouts when he scored in the final of the Under-19 European Championship final, a game which Spain went on to lose to France.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid rate the forward and as such have inserted a buy-back clause into Rodrigo’s contract. Next summer, should Los Blancos wish, they can send €12M over the Lisbon and secure the return of the forward.
