Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis has refused to head to Turkey and join Fenerbahce, instead wishing to remain at the Ligue 1 club. The 24-year-old only joined Lyon in 2009, making a controversial move from the club’s biggest rivals Saint-Etienne for €13M.

Club president Jean-Michel Aulas told Europe1 that Fenerbahce had bid "€14M for Gomis, but the player refused." Aulas went on to say that Gomis would remain an important attacking option for the French giants.

Gomis’ coach Claude Puel however, while accepting that the striker had refused the offer of the Turkish side, did hint that there was room for the player to change his mind if Fenerbahce made a more appealing bid.
