England boss Fabio Capello has ended David Beckham’s international career by confirming he does not intend to pick the Los Angeles Galaxy star in any further competitive games. The Italian declared that it was time to move forward with England and look to new players for the future.
Capello was quizzed after England’s 2-1 friendly win over Hungary last night as to whether Beckham could expect to feature in his new-look England.
"No", said the Italian, "I need to change it. David is a fantastic player, but I think we need new players for the future."
The Italian did say that he hoped to be able to give Beckham one more game at Wembley in order to allow the England stalwart to say goodbye to the fans.
