Manchester United have pipped Real Madrid to young Portuguese striker Bebe. The 20-year-old Vitoria Guimaraes player is expected to cost the Premier League giants a fee of about €8M, but must still pass a medical at Old Trafford to complete the deal.

Bebe was tracked closely by La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid, who had identified the youngster as one with massive potential. However, it appears Manchester United have stolen a march on their rivals and moved swiftly to conclude a deal.

For Vitoria the move represents a swift profit on a player they themselves only signed this summer. Bebe has represented Portugal at the Homeless World Cup, having been brought up in an orphanage and spent time on the streets.
