Greek giants Olympiacos are set to complete a swoop for Nantes defender William Vainqueur according to Le Parisien. The 21-year-old has been tracked by the Athens side for most of the summer and now they appear in pole position to get their man.
Currently turning out in Ligue 2 with Nantes, there seems little doubt that Vainqueur will welcome the move to Greece, despite the fact that for the first season since 1991/92, Olympiacos have no European football to offer for the remainder of the campaign.
Vainqueur has made one appearance for France’s Under-21 side and is under contract with Nantes until 2013.
