Marseille are trying to push Hatem Ben Arfa towards moving to Werder Bremen and snubbing interest from Newcastle United. While the Bundesliga side are offering a straight cash deal of €8M for the talented winger, Newcastle want first to take Ben Arfa on loan, with a view to a €5.5M transfer afterwards.
"Bremen are more serious" said Marseille president Jean-Claude Dassier, "it would be great for him to go there."
Dassier may be aware that Ben Arfa would prefer to move to the Premier League and is keen to head to Newcastle United, but Marseille, ready to finance their move for Loic Remy, want the cash deal on offer from the Germans.
However, the winger is also desperate to leave the Ligue 1 champions and could well feel that a move to Werder Bremen – who appear close to reaching the Champions League group stages as they hold a 3-1 first leg lead over Sampdoria – would be resolved quickly, unlike a Newcastle switch.
