Roma’s out-of-favour midfielder Ricardo Faty could be on his way to Greek side Aris Salonika. The 24-year-old has hardly featured at the Stadio Olimpico since he arrived as a highly rated youngster in 2004 from Strasbourg and is surplus to coach Claudio Ranieri’s plans.

Faty has reportedly been told he can leave Rome without a fee needing to be paid and has spoken to Aris officials as well as touring their facilities. The Frenchman has been impressed with the Greek club and is keen on the switch.

"Going out there I liked. Now I hope that [Aris] and Roma will implement the transfer", Faty told L’Equipe.

"Roma are ready to let me go for free, but would include a buy-back clause in the contract. I’m confident, I think there are 90 chances in 100 [that the transfer happens]."
