Atletico Madrid stunned Inter to take the UEFA Super Cup last night and left Nerazzurri boss Rafael Benitez warning it will take time before his side are up to speed. The Spaniard faces an almost impossible task in taking over from Jose Mourinho, who led Inter to an unprecedented treble last season.
On the night in Monaco goals from Jose Antonio Reyes and Sergio Aguero helped Atletico to a 2-0 win and the Spanish side looked impressive. Inter however, appears off the pace and lacked polish.
"We started the game well, with two or three chances, but then we lost control. At the end it was too open. The tactics are not quite there and we need to work harder", said Benitez.
The former Liverpool boss also asked for time to get it right, warning it could take a while because things must be different now Mourinho has exited the San Siro.
"I will have to change things after Mourinho. How much time will it take? I don’t know."
