Tottenham Hotspur are apparently trying to seal the sensational signing of Ryan Babel from Liverpool before the transfer window slams shut. Harry Redknapp believes Babel can relaunch a career which has gone off track at Anfield and is prepared to pay Liverpool £10M for the Dutchman’s services.
However, Liverpool are believed to want to keep hold of Babel and Spurs may have to raise their offer to force Roy Hodgson to alter his stance. Sources in Liverpool suggest that, despite Spurs interest, Babel will be going nowhere.
There also remains the possibility that Babel could be used as a makeweight in any Reds bid to snap up Carlton Cole from West Ham United, though Liverpool would prefer a straight cash deal. The final hours of the transfer window are set to prove intriguing.
