France suffered a shock defeat at home to Belarus last night, going down 1-0 to a late strike. The match was new coach Laurent Blanc’s first competitive game in charge and leaves Les Bleus with work to do when they travel to Bosnia on Tuesday.

Blanc accused his players of not being efficient enough with the ball, but also said that "nothing went our way".

France were shot down by a goal after Sergei Kislyak bagged the winner in the 86th minute. In truth the warning signs had been there for the hosts as Belarus went close in the 51st minute, while what chances did come France’s way did not look like being converted.

New coach Blanc is now well aware of the importance of Tuesday’s tricky meeting away in Bosnia and struggled to take any positives from the game.

"It’s hard to highlight something positive. I’ll watch the game tonight and then I’ll discuss it."
