Napoli look set to return to Udinese in January as they once again attempt to buy Swiss midfielder Gokhan Inler. The enforcer was tracked by Napoli for much of the summer, however the southern Italian club could not stretch to the fee which Udinese demanded.

Quoted €15M by their Serie A rivals, Napoli could only afford €6M, an amount not good enough to persuade Udinese to part with the 26-year-old. Reports from Italy suggest though that Napoli will up that to €8M in January and could well go even higher, convinced that Inler could be a real asset.

Napoli are determined to push for a Champions League spot this season and reinforcements in January could just prove crucial to ensuring they get it.
