Tottenham Hotspur and England have suffered a blow with the news that defender Michael Dawson will miss two months of action due to the injury he picked up against Bulgaria. It was already clear that Dawson would miss England’s midweek trip to Switzerland, but now it has emerged he will miss many Spurs games too.
Dawson sprained not just his left medial knee ligament, but also his left ankle ligament against Bulgaria on Friday evening. Spurs must now face up to losing the defender’s services for a swathe of Premier League games and also, most probably, three Champions League group stages.
The news is an especially big blow for Dawson who had spoken of his delight at Spurs reaching the group stage of the Champions League and facing some European heavyweights.
