Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka has categorically ruled out returning to the France national team. The forward was banned for 18 games by the French FA for his role in the uprising against then coach Raymond Domenech at the World Cup in South Africa.
As France lost to Belarus in their first qualifier for Euro 2012, some raised the prospect of a return for the Chelsea goal-getter, wondering if it could ever happen. They did not have to wait long for Anelka’s answer.
"I officially retired", Anelka told Spanish daily AS. "It is 100% sure that I will not [return]."
Les Bleus face a difficult game on Tuesday away to Bosnia in what has already become a crucial match following their loss to Belarus. For Anelka however, it appears his journey with France is really at an end.
