Arsene Wenger has bemoaned his side’s failure to kill off the game against Sunderland yesterday: Arsenal had taken the lead and kept hold of it until the 95th minute, when the hosts found a leveller.

"We had chances to win the game", said Wenger, "but we didn’t do it. And I believe the back four did well, but we made a mistake on the goal."

Wenger was also disappointed that the referee chose to play for an extra five minutes, after the fourth official had signalled four on his board. Although the Frenchman accepted that the amount on the board meant just a minimum of four minutes, he said he did not believe that anything happened in the four minutes "to justify the extension of the time."

The result leaves Arsenal just one point behind Chelsea in the Premier League standings, but having played a game more.
